Background
I misplaced my keys (again). It felt like the world was crashing down on me until I found it the next day. Turns out it had slipped out of my pocket during lecture and fell under my chair. After talking to my peers about this incident, I realized a lot of college students dislike using physical keys.
Interviews
I interviewed 5 participants (ages 20-27) who live in apartment housing. The purpose of these interviews was to better understand their attitudes and expectations when locking and unlocking their front door.
User Persona
Based off the user interviews, I created a persona to illustrate the needs, goals, frustrations, and motivations of the users. I then created a journey map to analyze the potential emotions and pain points associated with entering and leaving the apartment.
Info Architecture
Using the user persona and journey map, I brainstormed essential features of the app and mapped out the architectural structure of the app.
Low Fidelity
I started the prototyping process by creating a low fidelity version to prioritize functionality and ensure that the app is practical. I often had my UX friends test out the low fidelity prototype to provide feedback along the way.
Style Guide
I developed a style guide for the UI elements for a clean, modern, and friendly aesthetic. The colors, icons, and imagery I picked out are meant to feel homey.
High Fidelity
I applied the UI molecules into the screens to complete the high fidelity prototype for screens a part of the service discovery process.

Reflection
This personal project was really fun to carry out, especially since it is a topic that I am interested in (home technology!). This project captures the accumulation of all my skills learned from my UX courses and my internships.
